Hello All
Harley is one week past his third chemo treatment and has developed a very bad bladder infection. He is absolutely miserable . I must say that if you have a thought that your pet is not acting right follow your instincts and get them to the vet. It’s hard to know because I’ve never been in this situation what ” normal ” after chemo behavior is but I hesitated twice to get him to the vet thinking he just needed to rest , he would be weak , tired , nauseated . The week dragged on and then Tuesday as I was moving everywhere he was outside I saw the blood in his urine and rushed him to my primary vet. So now he is on a very strong antibiotic , pain pills and nausea pills. He has lost six pounds and his appetite is still nil . Vet says it takes about two full days for the antibiotic to take a good hold, I can’t wait for the pain to ease . He doesn’t cry or make a sound .Tomorrow is day 3 of pills hopefully it brings him some relief. I will definitely act on my instincts from now on.

Does the vet think this is related to the chemo at all? I just went back and read your last post where that third treatment really seemed to hit him hard.
Paws crossed for a quick recovery and for Harley getting his Sparkle back! Such a sweet boy.
I love his pictures. He has such a great bone structure in his face. Very handsome!

Yes it is a result of chemo weakening his system, apparently they can get infections very easily. His next chemo is in a week and a half we may not be able to do it .

oh no.. poor guy.. U know my girl was susceptible to UTI and had some horrible infections prior to cancer due to extra skin around vuvla and her aging. I used cranberry supplement cracked them open onto her food, the ones with out (vitC) and used Dmannose to help the particles clear from her bladder, just a suggestion, It really worked great for her. Just a thought while he goes through this to help.

Thank you for the suggestion and I would gladly try but right now he refuses to eat anything . Turkey, hamburger and chicken a total no go , I have even given him a appetite stimulant today and still nothing. I think soon if he doesn’t eat we will have to take him to vet for iv.
